Gulda Student Sonia Ciaroni Performs with the Erasmus Orchestra 2026
International orchestral experience, musical exchange and collaboration across borders: Sonia Ciaroni, violinist and student at the Friedrich Gulda School of Music Vienna, was selected to participate in two international Erasmus Orchestra 2026 projects.
The Erasmus Orchestra brings together music students from European conservatories and music institutions. Founded in 2017, the ensemble represents cultural diversity, European cooperation and the power of music to connect people beyond geographical and linguistic boundaries.
The first project took Sonia to Leuven, Belgium, from 6 to 11 September 2026. Following several days of rehearsals, the orchestra performed the “Harmony for Europe” concert at LUCA School of Arts on 10 September.
A second production followed in Milan from 15 to 19 September 2026. The “Music Across Borders” concert took place on 18 September in the renowned Sala Verdi of the Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi.” Both productions centred on opera arias and orchestral excerpts from the European operatic repertoire.
Participating in the Erasmus Orchestra gave Sonia the opportunity to rehearse and perform with young musicians from different countries while discovering new artistic perspectives. For the Friedrich Gulda School of Music, her selection is a wonderful example of how studying music in Vienna can lead to international encounters and valuable experience on European stages.
Congratulations to Sonia on her successful participation in the Erasmus Orchestra 2026!
