Friedrich Gulda School of Music Students Perform at Symphonic Concert at Brucknerhaus Linz

On May 7, 2026, students of the Friedrich Gulda School of Music joined the Symphony Orchestra of the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität for a remarkable concert evening at the Grand Hall of the Brucknerhaus Linz, combining major symphonic repertoire with contemporary film and composition projects.

Under the direction of Kai Röhrig, the programme featured Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia and Richard Strauss’ Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks — works renowned for their rich orchestral colours, narrative character, and technical demands. The young musicians demonstrated remarkable artistic maturity, stylistic sensitivity, and a compelling stage presence throughout the evening.

A distinctive highlight of the concert was the presentation of world premieres by composition students, created for short films by emerging filmmakers. The interaction between music and image offered fascinating insights into contemporary audiovisual storytelling and added a unique artistic dimension to the programme.

The participation of students from the Friedrich Gulda School of Music further underscored the high level and versatility of their musical education. Their achievement in performing such demanding repertoire in one of Austria’s most prestigious concert halls deserves particular recognition.
