Flutist and composer Reza Najfar becomes lecturer at AMP

The Academy of Music and Performing Arts Vienna could win the internationally renowned flutist Reza Najfar as lecturer for its classical department!

The work of Iranian-born Reza Najfar includes solo pieces and songs for various instruments for chamber music as well as orchestral works, music to poems by Sohrab Sepehri, Ahamad Shamlou and Abbas Kiarostami's Haikus and Kiarostami's last short film "Up and Down". He has also composed music for documentary films. His latest project, the first arrangement of Der Schneemann by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, was premiered in December 2017 at the Musikverein in Vienna with great success.

Najfar comes from an artistically versed family in Tehran. After studying flute and composition in his home country, he continued his flute studies in Utrecht and Vienna. He studied composition in his home country and in Austria at the Academy of Music in Vienna with Thomas Christian David and Dieter Schermann. During his studies, Najfar was engaged as solo flutist for three years with the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien. His numerous concerts took place at renowned festivals and in prestigious concert halls in various European and international countries and have been released by prestigious publishers.

In 2008 Najfar was awarded the "Persian Golden Lioness Award", Award of Excellence in Music by the World Academy of Arts, Literature and Media in London.
