Violinist Setareh Najfar-Nahvi becomes lecturer at the AMP

The Academy of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is pleased to announce top-class support in the classical music department

Born in Iran, Setareh Najfar-Nahvi began her violin studies at the Tehran Conservatory and was a member of the Tehran Radio Orchestra and the Tehran Symphony Orchestra from 1978 to 1983. This was followed by concert studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Prof. Michael Schnitzler, for which she received a scholarship for gifted students from the Austrian Ministry of Culture from 1987 to 1989, and subsequently studied instrumental singing pedagogy (IGP) at the Tyrolean State Conservatory.

She participated in various master classes, among others with Igor Oistrach and Josef Suk. Solo and chamber music activities, took her to several European countries, including Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Switzerland and France.

An intensive engagement with contemporary music was followed by collaborations and premieres of several works by composers such as Karlheinz Essl, Reza Najfar, Martin Lichtfuss and Norbert Zehm.
