Preliminary studies are intended for applicants aged 16 and over (- entry for younger students is permitted on application with special justification), whose musical competence is not yet sufficient for admission to a regular course of study or who have not yet made a decision regarding a concrete choice of study. The preliminary studies conclude without a certificate. A transcript of records will be issued as proof of academic success.

Duration: 2 semesters; the main course can be extended upon request.
Prerequisite: elementary instrumental or vocal knowledge
Admission: Registration, audition with the main subject teacher

Target:
The goal of the program is to acquire the practical and theoretical skills that will enable the student to begin a regular course of study at a post-secondary music education institution. In addition to teaching instrumental or vocal technique, students consolidate the basics of aural training and general music theory, which are based on the usual placement tests used in admission examinations.
